 Explosive Performance Earns Highest Honors

They did it again! Our Wind Ensemble blew away adjudicators and audience with an explosive performance at the State Assessment for Concert Band last Saturday.

They executed three pieces - Vesuvius, His Honor (March), and An Italian in Algiers, with difficulty ratings of 5, 4, and 4, respectively - with skill, emotion, and strong dynamics. Best of all, they played with unbridled joy, each musician bringing their very best to every note.

In addition to performing these prepared pieces, the band must play a new piece, learned "on the spot" by sight reading the music and performing it live. Following JHS Wind Ensemble's performance, band directors in the audience commented that the score chosen for sight reading was exceptionally difficult this year. They complimented Mr. Thomas and the Wind Ensemble for their skill in conducting and playing it.

Wind Ensemble earned the highest award: a Superior rating - garnering grades of A and A+ across all categories.
